Equine respiratory disease PCR panel
equine assay data sheet

Equine respiratory PCR panel  NOTE: THIS PANEL IS NOT PERFORMED ON SAMPLES TAKEN FROM EQUINES OWNED OR LOCATED IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

Test code:
P0013 - Equine respiratory PCR panel includes qualitative detection and differentiation of:

Equine vets frequently see generalized respiratory symptoms in their patients that could be caused by a number of different viral or bacterial agents. Recommended treatments and quarantine protocols differ among these pathogens, and some can be quite expensive and stressful for animals and owners.

Zoologix’ respiratory test panel is a powerful diagnostic tool for use in these cases. Zoologix performs this panel using highly specific, sensitive and fast PCR test protocols.

The entire panel is run from two nasal swabs, eliminating multiple sampling requirements.

Utilities:

  • Help confirm the pathogen causing generalized respiratory symptoms
  • Selection of appropriate treatment regimen
  • Shorten the time required to confirm a clinical diagnosis
  • Help ensure that equine populations are free of listed respiratory pathogens
  • Early prevention of spread of listed respiratory pathogens
  • Minimize human exposure to listed respiratory pathogens
  • Safety monitoring of biological products that derive from horses

Specimen requirements: Two nasopharyngeal swabs, or tracheal wash.

Contact Zoologix if advice is needed to determine an appropriate specimen type for a specific diagnostic application. For specimen types not listed here, please contact Zoologix to confirm specimen acceptability and shipping instructions.

For all specimen types, if there will be a delay in shipping, or during very warm weather, refrigerate specimens until shipped and ship with a cold pack unless more stringent shipping requirements are specified. Frozen specimens should be shipped so as to remain frozen in transit. See shipping instructions for more information.

Turnaround time: 3 business days

Methodology: Qualitative multiplexed real time PCR and qualitative reverse transcription coupled real time PCR

Normal range: Nondetected
