Zebrafish screening PCR panel

Test code: P0045 - Zebrafish screening PCR panel. Ultrasensitive detection and differentiation of the following pathogen categories by real time PCR:

Zebrafish facility staff and researchers often monitor for waterborne pathogens that can affect fish health and research results. The Zoologix zebrafish screening PCR panel includes several common waterborne pathogens of interest in zebrafish facilities. Zoologix performs this panel using highly specific, sensitive and fast real time PCR test protocols, using several possible sample types.

Utilities:

  • Screen for diseases in zebrafish facilities
  • Early prevention of the spread of pathogens between facilities
  • Help confirm the presence of disease-causing agents
  • Selection of appropriate treatment regimens
  • Shorten time required to confirm a clinical diagnosis
  • Minimize human exposure to the listed pathogens
  • Safety monitoring of biological products

Preferred specimens: Filter media, or whole zebrafish, or tank surface swab, or 0.2 ml fresh, frozen or fixed tissue.

Less preferred specimen:  100 ml water

Contact Zoologix if advice is needed to determine an appropriate specimen type for a specific diagnostic application. For specimen types not listed here, please contact Zoologix to confirm specimen acceptability and shipping instructions.

For all specimen types, if there will be a delay in shipping, or during very warm weather, refrigerate specimens until shipped and ship with a cold pack unless more stringent shipping requirements are specified. Frozen specimens should be shipped so as to remain frozen in transit. See shipping instructions for more information.

Turnaround time: 3 business days

Methodology: Qualitative real time PCR panel

Normal range: Nondetected
