Canine diarrhea PCR panel
dog and cat assay data sheet
Canine
diarrhea PCR panel
Test code:
P0022 - Qualitative
detection and differentiation of the following canine diarrheagenic
pathogens using PCR protocols:
Vets frequently see diarrhea in dogs that could be caused by a number
of different viral or bacterial agents. Treatment and quarantine
protocols differ among these pathogens, and can be costly and
stressful for animals and owners.
The Zoologix
canine diarrhea test panel is a powerful, cost-effective diagnostic
tool for use in these cases. Zoologix performs this panel using highly
specific and sensitive PCR test protocols to enable rapid, accurate
diagnosis.
All eight assays
are run from one fecal sample, eliminating multiple sampling
requirements.
Utilities:
-
Help confirm the pathogen causing diarrhea in dogs
-
Selection of appropriate treatment regimen
-
Shorten the time required to confirm a clinical
diagnosis
-
Help ensure that dog populations are free of listed
diarrheagenic pathogens
-
Early prevention of spread of listed pathogens
-
Minimize human exposure to listed pathogens
-
Safety monitoring of biological products that derive
from susceptible animals
Preferred specimen: 0.5 ml diarrhea, or 2
standard swabs with tips well-coated with diarrhea, or 2
rectal swabs from a dog with active diarrhea.
Less preferred specimen:
0.5 ml normal feces. Normal (non-diarrrhea) feces can be tested,
but it is less likely to contain detectable pathogens that a dog may
be carrying.
Contact Zoologix if advice is needed to determine an appropriate specimen type for a specific diagnostic application. For specimen types not listed here, please contact Zoologix to confirm specimen acceptability and shipping instructions.
For all specimen
types, if there will be a delay in shipping, or during very warm
weather, refrigerate specimens until shipped and ship with a cold pack
unless more stringent shipping requirements are specified. Frozen
specimens should be shipped so as to remain frozen in transit. See
shipping instructions for more
information.
